"Lace up your shoes and put your game face on! The Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run/Walk is a great way to do your part to help Boise State students," the Boise State University website announces.

The featured racer is Boise State Football Coach Chris Petersen. It's your chance to see if you can indeed "Beat Coach Pete." If you Beat Coach Pete, you'll receive a year's worth of bragging rights! All finishers and supporters can join us for a fun-filled finish-line bash sponsored by Recreation Services, Department of Athletics, and our premier sponsors. 

The 2013 Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run and Walk scheduled for Saturday, April 13. Racers are challenged to beat Boise State University head football coach Chris Petersen to the finish line while benefiting student scholarships.


Last year, there were 2,515 participants with 1,062 beating Coach Pete.  The race started in front of the recreation center and ended inside Bronco Stadium.  Coach Pete donated $5,310 to the general scholarship fund for Boise State students, according to KTVB.

The family-friendly event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Boise State Recreation Center. The three-mile race winds through campus, along the Boise City Greenbelt and finishes at Bronco Stadium.

Registration through April 7 is $15 for Boise State students and children 10 and under, and $25 general. A family of five may register for $60. Register online at www.imathlete.com/events/beatpetefunrunwalk.

David Leisten is from Boise, and he told KBOI that it is definitely worth taking part in the race.

"It's nice to get up early and feel like you're doing some good," Leisten says . "Everyone is really happy and it's fun."

Late registration is $20, $30 and $80 and will be accepted April 8-11 on site only. The first 3,000 registered participants will receive a T-shirt, donated by the United Dairymen of Idaho.

The race will be held on the same day as the annual Bronco Football Spring Game. The Spring Game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Bronco Stadium. All race participants will receive free admission to the Spring Game by showing their race bib or number.
Participants are encouraged to sign up early and help raise funds for Boise State’s need-based scholarship fund. To date, the Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run/Walk has raised more than $138,000 in emergency funding scholarships.

Free parking for the Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run and Walk will be available in the following locations: Lincoln Avenue Garage, Manitou surface lot and East Stadium lot.
