STAMPEDE ROLL PAST D-FENDERS AND HELP MAKE WISHES COME TRUE FOR SICK CHILDREN

Balanced attack produces win

Playing in pink jerseys that include the names of Stampede fans’ loved ones who have been affected by cancer, the Idaho Stampede beat the Los Angeles D-Fenders 114-88, last week. Justin Holiday led the team with 22 points. Sean Evans and Justin Harper both added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Stampede led 50-44 at the half before exploding in the third quarter to lead by as many as 28. The Stampede held the D-Fenders to just 5-of-19 shooting in the third quarter, while forcing seven turnovers. Durrell Summers had 18 points and Coby Karl added 12 points and seven assists. Carlon Brown had 14 points and eight assists off the bench. Idaho had just 11 turnovers while scoring 27 points off of the 21 L.A. mistakes.

Idaho made 22-of-26 free throws and shot 51.2 percent from the floor in the win – Idaho (8-17) is now just one game back of Los Angeles (9-16) in the West Division. The Stampede will again sport pink jerseys for tomorrow’s game and the team’s auction on idahostampede.afrogs.org will end at 11 p.m. tomorrow night. Proceeds from all auction items, including the team’s pink jerseys, will go towards the mammography assistance fund with St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute.

MAKE A WISH
Bank of the Cascades and the Idaho Stampede have joined together for the sixth consecutive year with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Idaho to help make a wish come true for a child battling a life-threatening medical condition.

The ‘Swishes for Wishes’ Campaign is an annual campaign sponsored by the Idaho Stampede and Bank of the Cascades. For every three-point field goal made during the 2012-13 season, Bank of the Cascades will donate $10 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Idaho. During 2011-12, the Stampede players made 362 three-pointers and BOTC donated $5,000 for the program. Bank of the Cascades and the Idaho Stampede will present a check to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® in March 2013.

This year, a young boy named Phillip will get live out his wish thanks to Bank of the Cascades, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Idaho and the Idaho Stampede.
