David Bote went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs and Yasiel Balaguert hit his league-leading seventh home run as the Boise Hawks defeated the Eugene Emeralds 12-1 Tuesday at Memorial Stadium,  according to the Idaho Press Tribune.
The Hawks set a season-high with 12 runs scored in the victory and improved to 5-1 on their current eight-game homestand.  Boise also improved to 4-0 this season against the Emeralds at home. Leading 5-1 in the fifth, Bote’s two-run double keyed a four-run inning to break the game open. The Hawks utilityman hit another two-run double to right-center field in the sixth inning to make it 12-1.

Meanwhile, Boise Hawks third baseman Kris Bryant was selected the Northwest League player of the week Monday morning, the Idaho Statesman reports.

By the end of the day he was gone, headed to a higher level of minor-league ball in Daytona Beach, Fla. Bryant, 21, the No. 2 overall pick by the Chicago Cubs in this summer’s MLB draft, was promoted to advanced Class A after 18 games with the Hawks. He hit .354 in 18 games with eight doubles, a triple, four home runs and 16 RBIs. He was hitting .471 in his last 10 games and finished his time with the Hawks on a 15-game hit streak.

Bryant, the NCAA player of the year from San Diego who received a $6.7 million signing bonus from the Cubs, is skipping low Class A Kane County (Illinois).

“We felt Daytona was a place Kris would be able to go and compete in his draft summer once he got enough (at-bats) under his belt,’’ said Jason McLeod, the Cubs’ director of player development and scouting. “With Daytona being in the playoffs, Kris will get three-plus weeks down there, which will be nice.’’
