Meet reigning Queen of the Minor Key, Eilen Jewell

“Packed with vivid lyrics, steel guitars, and hot licks, Jewell’s Americana-driven brand of country music sounds tailor-made for sweltering, stagnant summer nights.” – Eric Renner Brown, Entertainment Weekly.

With decades of participation in music in various forms, from creating to critiquing to enjoying, sometimes an artist just positively jumps out at me. Years ago, I watched in awe as this musical genius rocked the Nampa Civic Center. As the reigning Queen of the Minor Key, Eilen Jewell leads a tight quartet who blend influences of surf noir, early blues, rockabilly, and 1960s era rock and roll.

Eilen and her band engage in a touring schedule that is the envy of her peers. Delighting crowds from New York to Idaho and Spain to Australia, this unique outfit has carved its own niche on the music scene. Arenas, coffeehouses, theaters, festivals, various clubs and other venues have enjoyed the special music.

Noted for her warmth, pithy expressiveness, and fun-loving personality, Eilen is a crowd pleaser with a loyal following. Her songs range from the melodic to the energetic. My favorite  album from her is Sundown Over Ghost Town. I love its flowing, profound compositions that weave her most personal stories.

According to her website:

Eilen's music has drawn praise from NPR, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, American Songwriter Magazine and internationally from the Guardian (UK), Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), and El País (Spain). Her diverse legion of fans includes actor Tom Hanks and former British Prime Minister David Cameron. Eilen has shared the stage with Lucinda Williams, Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, George Jones, Mavis Staples, and Emmylou Harris to name a few.

Her music has been featured on ABC's Nashville (2015), HBO's True Blood (2005, 2009), FX's Sons of Anarchy (2011), and on T-Mobile's Fast Songs commercial (2007). In 2017, Eilen will release a collection of blues music featuring original compositions and obscure covers by Big Maybelle, Memphis Minnie, and Otis Rush among other legends.

Inquiring music fans need to give Eilen a look and listen.
