I thought I recognized the face of that other parent standing near the bounce-house at the Idaho Stampede game weeks ago.
His bio reads:
Deeds mentioned how he has been with the Statesman for 21 years and how he loves Boise. It is always inspiring to read the work of a writer who possesses such a clearly developed voice.
It turns out that my guess was right, and it was columnist Michael Deeds, the Idaho Statesman’s entertainment editor. I have been reading and admiring his work for years. So it was nice to finally meet this pleasant and creative individual, and his lovely wife too.
His bio reads:
Scene magazine overlord and official music nerd. He co-hosts "The Other Studio" at 9 p.m. Sundays on 94.9 FM "The River" and appears Thursdays on Channel 6 News. In the rare event that a reader disagrees with Deeds’ opinions, he prefers to settle things on the nearest ping-pong table.Deeds' latest column John Nemeth, Louis CK, Alan Jackson are coming to Boise, begins:
By the time these words become ink, John Nemeth will be walking in Memphis. But when I call him, he's still en route, driving alone outside Flagstaff, Ariz., with a jade plant and Christmas cactus seated next to him.I enjoy Deeds' columns because they demonstrate more than just his ability to articulate an opinion. His words make a lot of sense, provide insight, and are convincing. And Deeds is able to do all this in an entertaining way. .
"Man, I got a 26-foot, Budget rental, straight-truck diesel with an SUV on a tow dolly behind me," the singer and harmonica virtuoso says.
He sounds rather ecstatic.
Deeds mentioned how he has been with the Statesman for 21 years and how he loves Boise. It is always inspiring to read the work of a writer who possesses such a clearly developed voice.
