First-year manager Gary Van Tol isn't going to make any changes to Boise's starting rotation...Yet.
EXCERPT from a story on KIVITV:James Pugliese and Paul Blackburn have been solid so far this season, but the back end of the rotation has struggled. Here's a look at the unit's statistics through Saturday's game:
James Pugliese (2-1 in five starts): 3.12 ERA, 26 IP, 24 H, 9 ER, 22 SO
Paul Blackburn (0-1 in four starts): 1.00 ERA, 18 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 20 SO
Duane Underwood (0-1 in four starts): 6.75 ERA, 17.1 IP, 20 H, 13 ER, 13 SO
Loiger Padron (0-2 in four starts): 7.63 ERA, 15.1 IP, 19 H, 13 ER, 11 SO
Trey Lang (0-2 in four starts): 11.37 ERA, 12.2 IP, 17 H, 16 ER, 13 SO
An influx of new arms, including three 2013 draft picks (Scott Frazier, Trey Masek, and Rob Zastryzny), provide Van Tol options to try a new starter or two, should the Hawks continue to struggle. Van Tol said he would re-evaluate the rotation on a week-to-week basis, but won't make an adjustment until the newcomers have a chance to get settled in Boise.

WHO ARE THE BOISE HAWKS?
The Northwest League history of the franchise dates back to 1975, when the team was known as the Boise A's, affiliated with the Oakland Athletics. The two-year association with Oakland was followed by an independent season in 1978. Boise was then without minor league baseball until 1987 with the inception of the Boise Hawks. The Boise club operated as an independent team from 1987-89, before joining forces with the California (Anaheim) Angels in 1990 to begin an 11 year run.
During that association, the team won four league titles (1991, 1993, 1994, and 1995); with manager Tom Kotchman leading the team to 501 wins in 835 games, by far the most in NWL history. During the 2001 season, the club became a farm-team for the Chicago Cubs. Manager Steve McFarland earned the highest honor in 2002, being named Minor League Baseball's short-season Manager of the Year. The partnership with the Cubs has been mutually beneficial to say the least. The Hawks have won 5 division titles and 2 Northwest League Championships (2002, and 2004).
