Who is Brad Little?
Brad Little is an Emmett native who was raised on his family's sheep and cattle ranching operation. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Agri-business, and has worked in the ranching industry for his entire professional life.
In 1978, Brad had the good fortune and married Teresa Soulen of Weiser. Teresa and Brad are the proud parents of two sons, who have wonderful wives, Adam and Angela, and David and Kelsey. They are the proud grandparents of five beautiful grandchildren. Brad strives to be a good steward of the land and a responsible citizen.
He is continuously encouraging sustainable agriculture. Brad’s personal philosophy has remained consistent throughout his political career, to ensure the lightest possible hand of government in the lives of Idaho's citizens.
Brad is currently a board member for Performance Design Incorporated (PDI), a small Boise based manufacturing company. He is the former chair of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry (IACI) and the Idaho Wool Growers Association. Brad became Idaho’s 37th Lt. Governor on January 6, 2009, and elected to the office in 2010 and again in 2014. Brad has always been involved in public policy and public service. He first served in public office in 2001 when he fill a Senate vacancy. He was then elected to four consecutive terms.
During his service as a Senator, Brad was elected by his Republican peers during his first full term to serve in the Party leadership as Majority Caucus Chair.
As Lt. Governor, Brad understands and holds with high regard, his constitutional duty to preside over the Idaho State Senate, as well as acting as Governor of Idaho when Governor Otter is out of the state. Brad takes a leading role in assisting Governor Butch Otter in advancing Idaho’s economic development, and assists the Governor's office in vetting of potential candidates for cabinet, boards, commissions and council vacancies.
Most importantly, Brad considers his primary responsibility to be responding to the needs of constituents. He makes sure to stay in touch by attending face-to-face meetings, participating in gatherings, events, or activities that relate to public issues and policy, and responding to calls or emails that come to his office. He values all constituents’ comments, concerns and opinions, and holds each inquiry with importance and high regard.
As former Speaker of the House for the Idaho Legislature Bruce Newcomb said:
Brad is an incredible husband and father. He has raised his boys to have those qualities, too. The father of two, and grandfather of five lights up when his family is around; and he feels his most fortunate asset is that his children were able to move back to their home state, have families and become responsible Idahoans. If you have had the opportunity to hear Brad speak, you would have heard him say that his main goal is to ensure that all our children and grandchildren have the opportunity to come back to their hometowns or stay here.
